    Quarry evaluation

What is the best way to evaluate the fish species/population/health in a quarry pond? Should it be done by electrofishing? How deep can electrofishing sample?
    Thanks

Garmin Panoptix Livescope for visual search, move in with an Aqua-vue Micro for fish ID.

OR you can pay more for a crew to do it for you. Draw-back is you can't mount the "crew" on your own boat or use in your ice shack later!

    HA!

No boat OR ice shack? I'm so sorry to hear.

        Wishing you only the best.

Maybe Mr B. Will chime in. You could probably get some answers if you call NGPC maybe able to point you in the right direction. Good luck!

Electrofishing will give you a good idea.

Thanks for the suggestions. I will touch base with those in the private waters program. I am quite ignorant regarding electro fishing and figured that it would be of limited use in a deep body of water.

Just because a waterbody is deep does NOT mean the fish are down there. In fact, the deep water in many Nebraska sandpits and quarries are not the best habitat and often have few if any fish in them. Electrofishing is a good way to sample enough fish to tell you what you need to know about the fish community.
