  • Trailer sway

My boat trailer seems to sway back and forth easily. Everything looks good on the framework. Any one know of a cause and solution?

    weight distribution?

How tongue heavy is it? Can the axle be moved further back on the frame?

Same here. I would check the tongue weight. It might be too light for your current hitch setup. After ensuring that the weight is correct, inflating the trailer tires to their max pressure might help also. Others had success using a weight distribution system like blue ox and equalizer hitch, and some guys installed a sway bar.

After fighting this losing battle with the proper weight on the tongue, I found that my transom wasn't supported by the rear roller bunks. Had to move the crank/winch support back to it's original position. Still very heavy but it trails great and no worries.. I find myself using the trailer jack more and backing closer to the trailer to hitch it up. Everything is a tradeoff.
