    CYFP Goal and Instructor Expectations

    NGPC Family/Youth Fishing Program Goal
    and Certified Instructor Expectations

    Certified Instructors are asked to:

-request equipment and materials at least 2 weeks in advance of programs or events

-send in completed report forms within two weeks of the program or event

-abide by and instruct others of current fishing regulations

-be neat, clean and accurate, refrain from use of profanities, obscenities and other unbecoming language when in contact with students

-refrain from smoking or chewing tobacco when in contact with students

-refrain from using alcoholic beverages before or during programs and events

-keep Youth Fishing Program staff notified of any changes in address, phone or email

-accept the guidance and decisions of the Youth Fishing Program staff and NGPC Fisheries biologists

-maintain the dignity and integrity of the agency with the public

-practice what YOU preach – in and out of the classroom and fishing events

As a Youth Fishing Instructor you represent a strong, positive force that can help neighbors and fellow citizens better understand the importance of safety, ethical behavior and stewardship.

To maintain an active Youth Fishing Instructor status you simply need to teach or assist in at least one Program or Event each year!

    ______________________________

The goal of the Youth Fishing Program is to provide youths and adults a hands-on fishing experience – developing angling skills while incorporating an understanding of the aquatic resources. As a Youth Fishing Instructor your role is to:
-introduce or reintroduce angling to the public

-raise angler’s understanding of aquatic systems that fish inhabit

-raise public awareness of fishing regulations and their role in fisheries management

-raise public awareness of fishing as a lifelong, family-oriented activity
