That (Jim Buckley Memorial) bin was installed in November, 2013 as a "prototype". Since then, MANY problem bins "out here" have been modified with the screen.

After a trip to the bin in Holdrege (North Park Lake) and finding only bread bags and other trash, a "screen" was installed. Next trip the bin was 1/4 full of fishing line and NO TRASH!

The consideration of opening the "hole" a bit bigger has been SCRATCHED as it appears it is NOT hindering line entry.

The latest and future bins will sport a 45* "elbow" which offers the line a more direct "drop" into the bin and works well with the shorter (6') posts used.

    started a topic Bin design......

    Bin design......

I tend to re engineer the wheel! With the amount of thrash that's stuffed into bins, think perhaps a cap on front with a hockey puck size slot would reduce cans, cups, misc? Line would easily go in yet. Could use screws to take cap on/off?!
Working...
