Dang Kane reminds me of my Tanner, only Tanner would be 25 years Kane's Senior. Great choice of breed! Have FUN!

standard poodles were originally a hunting breed. There are still those insticts but i think they have been diluted heavily in pursuit of other traits. The standard poodle my wife had when we first met would have been a hell of a hunting dog but she was seven when I met her and I already had 4 hunting hounds to keep in the game. She was all over the birds I brought home and would hunt the dead ones I would plant for her in the yard. She even pointed and retrieved. If I was still in the waterfowl game I would seek a labradoodle out of hunting stock. I don't know if there is any local but I would bet there is some, somewhere.

Nope, I prefer labs also. May be looking for one in the near future, but I'm kind of picky so I'll look for just the right one.

Of the 3 litters I raised that yellow was always my favorite! I am glad he turned out the way he did for you!

    Enjoy the ride

Our last dog was just 11 when he passed, but I certainly had forgotten how much time puppies require. The walks, the training and just constant attention, sure makes you miss a mature dog. lol But I know that pups need field time and feathers, so it has made me get out quite a bit more.
