Default Smoking a Turkey whole

Ok got a smaller plucked bird in the fridge from yesterday. Going to get that smoker rolling here this week and cant wait.

Anyone got any tips for a first time turkey smoker?

Soak the bird in a 5-gallon bucket with a good bryne mixture(salt, garlic, seasonings, liquid smoke, etc..) for 24 to 48 hours. Add a bag of ice if you can't fit the bucket in your fridge. Next, remove the bird and season generously. Drizzle the bird with olive oil and put in preheated oven at 450 degrees for 15 minutes, this will help to semi-brown the skin as well as help to seal the meat for flavor before smoking yet not preventing it to smoke properly. Finally, put it on the smoker for 5-8 hours depending on the amount of smoke you are trying to achieve. Remove and enjoy.

Be careful which end you light and which end you put to your mouth.

turned out awesome. Next time I will probably inject with some more cajun seasoning. Wasnt "spicy" enough for me. Was REAL juicy though. Soaking it in the brine does that.
