NEFGA members and friends,
Sometime on October 28, 2008 the NEFGA website was hacked for a short period of time. Despite of our best efforts to keep this kind of a threat out of our servers, it happened. The hack has now been fixed. Thanks to our members who spotted this hack and called it to our attention. This hack affected only the website URL http://www.nefga.org The NEFGA forum is housed in a separate area of the server, largely for security reasons. At this time the NEFGA staff is advising anyone who visited the NEFGA website within the past 24 hours to immediately delete all your browser cookies and run all of your anti-virus and anti-spyware software at this time, just to be safe. Everyone should update and run your virus and spyware software on at least a weekly basis anyway. If you haven't done this for a while, you should probably do it now anyway just for GP, even if you've not been to the website lately. None of the NEFGA member or visitor data or information was accessed or damaged by this hack. None of that is contained in the website software. Our IT staff thwarts dozens of hack and spam attempts of that type directed to the forum and website each month. We've been largely successful and keeping folks out of our forum and website that shouldn't be here. I believe we probably have a better record and tougher safeguards than most websites and forums out there. We're taking even tougher steps to insure that this does not happen again. We apologize to anyone who may have been affected by this hack today. All of the NEFGA staff stand ready to assist anyone who may have questions on deleting your browser cookies or running your virus or spyware software. Here's a link to a good website to walk you through deleting your computer web browser cookies for Explorer or Mozilla Firefox or just about whatever browser you may be now using. Please drop us a line if we can help. Thank you and again, our sincerest apologies to all our NEFGA forum members. |
