I think even Alex would agree that the 94/95 teams were truly dominant. They won 25 straight games and back to back National Championships. They beat #3 ranked Miami in the Orange Bowl for the first ring and #2 ranked Florida in the Fiesta Bowl for the second ring. That score was 62-24 and could have easily been 70-10.
Since then a number of things have happened and Nebraska is not dominant anymore. Better than average, (when they play up to their potential) but not dominant. I think that's what Alex is always razzing about -- folks that still think Nebraska is untouchable. Folks that think it is still that same dominant football team. That simply isn't the case anymore. Hopefully it will be again in the future. I like seeing them play well.

Is that the year Flutie threw the touchdown at the end of the game to win?

No doubt NU was THE team back then and was one of the top 3 teams for a LONG time. They are still a great team when they want to be.IMO,if they would have played all 4qtrs. of each game last year, they would be a top 5 team again. What cracks me up is the diehard fans that think every year is gonna be a championship year to begin with. Then, they lose a game and those same fans come up with every reason there is for the loss and the season then turns into a "rebuilding" one or the coach needs to go or some reason to justify the loss or losses in their mind.Plain and simple......NU(when they only play 1-2qtrs. per game) isn't nearly as good as alot of teams out there now but the fans can't get that thru their "Big Red" brains.
Now,do I like NU.....sure.But am I gonna lose sleep over it if they lose...no.I love to watch college football in general and have no favorite team that I live and die for. I'm sure it's the same for any major college and its fans, but you guys are a little psycho. Plus, you Big RED fans are easily stirred up.![]() Alex

I can only thank our athletic director for our current success level. I am very glad that he has "not allowed our program to slip into mediocrity. "

94 Huskers was the best college team to ever put on pads. Nebraska owned the 90's, and we are on the way back....GO HUSKERS!

The 94 team was good, but the 95 team was even better, a much more powerful ground game and better balance on the offensive side. The 95 defense was better than the 94, way faster and sleaker, Jamel Williams and Terrell Farley were holy terrors at the outside LB spots. Doug Colman and Phil Ellis were interchangeable at the MIKE spot, and T.Williams, Minter, Veland and Michael Booker made up our best ever secondary. I'm not sure if I'll ever see a better team, from top to bottom, than the 1995 team that played in the Fiesta Bowl in 1996. 62-24 and 7 of the 24 points by Florida was on a punt return with our 3 string special teams in.

Justin83, I was at that game (Fiesta Bowl) in person. I agree with you 100%. I don't think you'll ever see a Nebraska team better than that one. They were just completely dominant on both side of the ball.

The 95 Huskers were undoubtedly THE BEST HUSKER SQUAD I have ever witnessed. It was almost comical the way they just dominated every single team they played.I am very glad I was alive to witness the onslaught.Run left, run right, up the middle.....when you got those big boys up front, nobody's going to stop you.It was almost unfair! The low point of the season for me was the 20/20 or 60 minute segment(I don't remember which) that focused on the criminals of the Husker Team.Even the Omaha World Herald had a cartoon in the paper that had a picture of the Husker team bus (a fricken paddy wagon).Oh well, even if the Skers never win another national championship, I will never forget that season for the rest of my life!

Wasn't that the game where Hall of Fame coach Osborne let the ever-so-mentally stable woman beater, AKA Lawrence Phillips NOT ONLY suit for the game, but play as well? Yes, truly a PROUD moment for Husker fans. I can see the recruiting letters now..."Like to throw your girlfriend down stairs? We want you at Nebraska!"

Lots of programs have those kind of guys playing for them.
The problem is bigger than one player here or one player there.

Actually, it's not that bare...we did beat 'the best team of all time' in the 2003 Big XII championship (Oklahoma, I still remember the pain on Toby Keith's face...ahh memories...)...
And too, in 1998 we were absolutely hosed by the BCS and Big XII boys after losing to aTm in the championship...even though we were a damn site better than Crouch's team (who lost in the Big XII championship) we didn't get into the BCS championship... No body ever said the process was fair... ![]()
