Don't assume things so quickly, fellas. I could have been cheering for KU.

I can only think of one scenario in which I would root for the huskers, and that would be if a Husker win would somehow help UW.

Thinking back to 1991 when I was a kid. I attended the All Star Game in Sand Diego. Was a fun time. First year of the All Star Fan Fest weekend. I got a baseball with tons of signatures. Tony Gwynn, Ripken, Ryan, Sandberg, Griffey, tons of others.
Got to talk to them and shake their hands. Also got to listen to Fred " CRIME DOG" McGriff talk to us kids. What a great guy.

1. OU vs NU in 2005 I believe it was. Got to see Kelly and Peterson play. Although not 100% Peterson made us look silly like he does just about everyone else. Had really good seats and despite what happened to the team yesterday we actually played them much closer this game.
2. Last year I was at a Creighton game where they started off with a double digit lead. They lost the lead and found themselves down by about 15 in the second half. The came roaring back to send it to OT. Cavel Whitter had 40 something points and the Jays went on to win the game. These probably stick out the most.

I got to a World Series game in Pittsburgh at Three Rivers with my dad in 1978, that was pretty cool. The Pirates beat the Orioles and went on the win the series. That was neat.
Used to make the Thanksgiving day Pitt vs Penn State games in Three Rivers as well. But now that I've been to a Nebraska football game, those weren't much in terms of atmosphere, but they were fun as my dad and my old uncles would all go. The first pro baseball game I went to was in Forbes Field in Pittsburgh in 1969 (Good heavens, am I really that old and did Maz' really hit the winning home run against the Yankees in that park just 9 yrs before??...holy crud!!), Pirates vs. Expos and Roberto Clemente threw Rusty Staub out from right field at 1st base on what should have been a routine ground single. I've never seen any throw by anyone since then that was nearly as hard as that, I'll never forget it. About took the first basemans arm off!! Every ball game I go to since then I think about that play and wonder if anyone sitting in the park has ever seen anything like that. I bet they never have. |

I would say the greatest game I've ever been to was the Nebraska vs Arizona state college world series elimination game. It was a great game by both teams but the icing on the cake was when Gerch hits a 3 run homer with 2 outs in the top of the 9th to tie it. That place errupted!!!! it was by far louder than any memorial stadium crowd I've ever heard!!! It's the first time I've ever been to a sporting event where I got chills from seeing what happened ....it was amazing. Even though they ended up losing it was the most amazing game I've ever been to.
Also the super regional that same year at home against Miami was pretty sweet. Been to way too many husker football games to even remember one that meant a lot to the season. I guess '94 Colorado-Nebraska was a great one, Berringer played unbelieveable. I believe that was #1 vs #2 but it honestly wasn't that great of a game, Nebraska hammered them so it didn't live up to the hype.
