Wow, a little extreme on your comparisons? Did I ever say that he wasn't a bad person, no. I am just saying that 2nd chances in life don't always pan out the way that LP's did. Now, saying that, there are crimes that I believe don't deserve a second chance. obviously.Tom Osborne asked LP to do a set number of things, which LP did, therefore LP was allowed to play. Where do chimos and rapists come into play in this conversation, even if they are being used as a comparison? That sir is being out of touch with reality. Troy |

This is a great argument. TO did indeed have a tough decision. From what I've seen of him as a coach/person/AD and the things you hear others say about him, I highly doubt he kept Phillips around for the wrong reasons. I don't remember alot of the details because I was young, but wasn't this thing taken to court and he was not completely charged? The rulings of the courts make a difference on how things are handled.
Also, speaking as a coach myself and from personal experience, there is a VERY FINE LINE between having a kid that is definitely screwing up and shouldn't be allowed to be back on the team AND having a kid screw up, face consequences and then keep him on a team, a team that may save his life. In T.O.'s mind, he may have thought that by keeping LP around would put him on track and actually save his life and that probably outweighed the thought of kicking him off of the team and back out on the streets. It's a tough decision...bottom line. No matter what we all say, we also don't know ALL of the facts. None of us were in the program (that I know of). I will guarentee you though that TO spent many hours praying and thinking about the decision and he truely thought he made the right one. Someday, LP may figure it out.

Nope...Brook Berringer was a solid human being. I loved watching him play. Thought he got the shaft in the National Championship game, getting benched so Tommie Frazier could get the start. Again, I've never really agreed with TO. I'm pretty much sure TO is actually Sloth. HEY YOU GUYS!

Fair and balanced?
Tell ya what...go throw your girlfriend down the stairs and see what kind of legal reprocussions you face. I'll guaran-damn-tee ya that the outcome of your trial is far more "fair and balanced" than the "punishment" that fell on Phillips. You'll get three hots and a cot (and some taxpayer funded cable television) rather than the opportunity to play in a National Championship game. Your next romantic adventure will be from whoever decides to gang-rape you in the shower, not whichever drunk coed you can force your will upon like LP got to do. Fair and balanced...you crack me up. Where's the "Pot/Kettle/Black" smilie when you need it.

We've got a psychologist on our hands, ladies and gents... Don't ask why, but it reminds me of a joke.
A Packer fan, a Bears fan, and a Vikes fan were all taking a road trip to Canton to see the pro football Hall of Fame. They were hit by an 18 wheeler, and all three died instantly. The sherrif came out to the scene to clean up the mess, and came across the body of the Packer fan. He lifted the Packer cap off his skull to try to identify the body...took a couple notes and moved on. He came across the body of the Bears fan, lifted off the cap to try to identify the body...took a couple notes and moved on. Finally, he comes across the body of the Vikings fan...lifts the cap, and says, "That's a surprise." Another deputy says, "What's wrong...can't ID the body?" Sherrif responds, "That's not it at all...it's just been my experience that under every Vikings cap, you find an as*hole."

Huh? I'm not the one getting all upset. Your previous post you said Thunder........next its LP. Now who is the one under arrest now for murder? LP is old news. Thunder is a former NU player with no ties to the program now. Get over yourself man. I've never defended either one. Only falsehood I've seen in this entire thread is you making TO out to be something he isn't. Anyways you get all riled up some more and post whatever you want but I wont judge you like you seem to judge others so freely. |

TO first and foremost was a football coach. What do football coaches want (and are paid) to do? WIN. Some make it less obvious than others, but for the most part they are all guilty of it.

Tell ya what...why don't you go ahead and tell us what Tom Osborne IS, since I've so accurately described him as something he apparently ISN'T. I'll even help you out a bit. Tom Osborne is: A) Arguably the most legendary coach in Nebraska history. B) A former politician elected by a populus who care far more about his coaching ability than representative ability. C) The current Atheletic Director for the University of Nebraska. D) A coach who was more than willing to allow thugs to roam the streets of Lincoln wearing university issued Nebraska letterman's jackets. E) All of the above. ** For those of you who remember taking tests, when faced with multiple answers that are correct, the correct answer is nearly always "all of the above." **

I think that's about enough.
Let's remember that Thunder Collins is innocent until proven guilty. He's only been charged. We're not going to solve anything here. * |
