Default What's you gut feeling about Huskers this year?

I love my Husker football, but I've got this voice in the back of my head that's telling me we're going to be a .500 team this year. I think we will be able to score the points, but sadly, allow the other team to score just as many. I'm hoping with so many home games, this will help in a game or 2. Putting your love of the Big Red aside, does anybody else feel the same?

My gut feeling is that we are going to be better than expected. I think 8 wins.

Exclamation

They'll win 7, maybe sneak in with 8 but won't challenge for the Big 12.

One thing for certain, heaven help any kid who quits on a play.

I honestly feel that we can score a lot of points, and with COACH PELINI, and crew, our defence will HUSKER UP, and not quit like they did last year. I can't see the BIG RED scoring 50 points, and losing this year, can't believe it happened last year! My gut feeling is that we will surprise a lot of people, and win 8 or 9 games, perhaps even upset Oklahoma in Norman!!!!!!

GO BIG RED!

HUSKER UP!

I think they have the capability to win nine games, but it will be wait and see if they can play with some intensity.Hopefully the blackshirts will be back this season.

I'm no Husker fan but if the coach can keep the guys fired up and playing to their potential, Husker football will be just fine again. Not sure if they'll compete for the Big 12 or any decent bowl game this season but there is a chance and I do hope they make the most of things when handed good opportunities in any game. They are a good team, they just lost the "heart" they used to play with that also helped them with alot of games in the past. The only thing I hope to not see...the Husker fans getting down on them if they lose a game or two like the last couple of years. Those guys(players/coaches) put in an incredible amount of time/effort for Husker football and to watch the fans BOO and walkout is just plain disrespectful and pathetic IMO. Maybe the fans are just fair weather fans as long as they are winning but it's shame to watch the so called "best fans in the world" act like they have the last couple of seasons.

I definitely like the direction our program is headed and we have a lot to look forward to. I think Bo has a lot of intensity and will prove himself to be a good coach. Granted this is his first year and there are a lot of questions yet, so i will predict 7-5, maybe 8-6 if we pull off an upset but i don't think we will be in the running for the big 12 title game this year but i think the losses will be close and there might be a couple heartbreak games along the way. All I can say is that we have a lot to look forward to in the future and we can hopefully get back to our glory days again.

GO BIG RED!!!!

So, if they win 8 then they get to play two extra games. Cool!

Are you kidding? Its the huskers? They arent that great. Just because you live in the state doesnt mean you have to be totally brain washed.

I see the huskers winning about 5 games.

Certainly they can do better than last year. Callahan probably lost a couple due to bad coaching/ play calling.

I think huskerfan probably has it right. If you think about it (2007 - Nebraska Husker Football Schedule - Extended), we would have won 4 more games (2007) if we had a defense that could hold an apponent to 20 pts or less. Making us 9-3 or so. The offense put up decent numbers but the defense wasn't holding up their end of the bargain. As long as the offense keeps doing what they are doing (and in all actuality, will probably improve now that Watson is calling the shots) and the D puts up some resembalance of an effort, we should have a pretty good year. Histoically speaking, Bo has brought a good defense. LSU, national champ., OU, played for Nation champ, (lost, but was still there), one year at NU, a great improvement, one of the best in the nation that year. If you ask me, he is 3 for 3 on his last assignments. I don't expect anything different here. But time will tell.

I will tell you this much though, I sleep better at night now.

I refuse to make predictions - too many variables I have no control over. I just want to see us get into a respectable bowl game, the later in the year the better so we extend our practice time out later in the year. I do find it interesting that Bo hadn't given out a single black shirt as of Wednesday of this week. No gimme's; have to earn it. I like that!
