Default Great sports weekend...

Even though my Mavericks don't open their football season until next week against the goats, this is shaping up as a great sports weekend. Tomorrow night top 10-ranked CU takes on Gonzaga in soccer at Morrison Stadium (we'll be there) while the Nebraska women play Stanford in volleyball just down the street. I'm more excited about Saturday night's Husker opener than I've been in at least four years -- gotta find someplace serving cocoa and cookies that has the game on PPV. Sunday afternoon it's NU vs. USC in volleyball after the Texas/Stanford match, and a friend has given us free tickets. I may need all day Monday to recover.

Creighton dumps Gonzaga, 4-1.

Cook's girls sweep Stanford.

Bo wins his debut 47-24.

The Wolverweenies lose their opener. Again.

Life is good!

And yesterday afternoon the Husker VB team takes down #4 USC in 4 games.

This team has surprised me to no end. They lose 4 All Americans off last year's team yet they're kicking butt and taking names against great competition.

This team will be one to be reckoned with.

Look out Longhorns!!!!

We were there, and they almost swept USC, too. They had them down 22-19 in game one before losing 25-27. One of the prettiest sounds in sports is the smack of Jordan Larson's hand against the ball when she fires off one of her spectacular jump serves!

Well, I was there and I didn't hear you yelling. You may have noticed my quick chat with Coach Cook between games 1+2. Thought I'd help the poor guy out.

What a team these girls are turning out to be!!
