Anyone know why the swimming medals that Micheal Phelps won look different than all the other medals?

Are swimming medals just different, or are there other medals that are different too?

The backside of the medal looks different than the front side, as far as I can tell, all the medals are the same.

No, they are very different. Here are the pictures of the two.

Don't know why they are different though. (Can't read the writing.) Maybe two sides of the same medal???

As I said, one side is the front, the other side is the backside. I suppose you could call one side heads and the other side tails. Ive' been watching the Olympics every night since they have started, trust me on this.
