Default My Brother

This has really nothing to do with fishing, but I wanted to share. Here is a link to my brothers fight last week. He is the winner. Its a great fight (MMA). There is a little blood from the other guys nose. Thought I would warn incase there is anyone who is squimish.

He is currently the HVY weight champ for Ring of Torment. His record is 6-1 with his only loss avenged! Should be fighting in Victory's December card if everything goes as planned!

Thanks! That guy is a pro...only one fight as a pro...nonetheless a pro! That guy was huge and when he knocked Zach down I thought it was over! Big mistake to let him back up!

Great fight. I have seen a couple Omaha Fight Club fights. Rumor is that UFC is going to host a Friday Night Fights in Omaha pretty soon. Huston Alexander (UFC fighter from Omaha) told Dana White (UFC president) that Omaha is a huge MMA town. They polled the past couple pay per views and Omaha has the most viewers per capita in the nation.

They range from $40-$250. You can get them through ticketmaster. If it is not sold out already.

I've seen that guy your brother beat at the club I bounce at occasionally. He's a little into himself...good to see him humbled.

Your brother is an excellent striker, very fast for his size, and very powerful left and right hooks. He's good in the clinch too. He needs some Brazillian ju-jitsu training. He had his back twice and just kept pounding instead of getting hooks in and choking him out. Also had no ground defense when he was getting ground and pounded and should have had him in full guard right away. He had a butterfly guard for a second and could have controlled the guy on top better if he would have wrapped him up. Not that your brother isn't a good fighter now, but your brother would be great if he learned ju jitsu and some wrestling to go with his boxing.

I've been approached 4 times this year by fighters wanting get me to their gyms to train me. One guy was sizing me up the other night, squeezing my arms and shoulders and telling me I am too strong to not be training. I should start training again, that looks like fun!

awesome!!!!

I cant believe how long it takes for the guy just to be able to simply stand up. He got his butt handed to him for sure.

Great fight. I had the outcome guessed all wrong from the start. Your bro knows how to stay in there and kick butt!

Thanks! The problem was that my bro was dazed from the hit, so he was having trouble getting to his bread and butter wrestling. My brother and myself come from a wrestling family we both wrestled for about 15 years. So that was not the problem. He is currently taking begginers and advanced Muay Tai.....he placed second in a national tournament in Des Moines so he is on his way. Of his 6 wins 4 come from Ju-jitsu based submissions. The other two were from TKO. I think that guy was a little stronger than my bro thought. Either way it was a win and we are moving towards his second title defense on Sept 20th at the Pershing in Lincoln. I will keep you guys updated as I find things out.

BTW- Aaron what bar do you bounce at. I bounce at The Spillway in CB. Used to be Misquito Creek.

Why do all MMA guys think they can kick everyones butt though? Theres a bunch of them here in Norfolk that are on videos and stuff and usually hang out at the local bar with no shirt on and talk crap to anyone. Its kind of funny. They say they are undefeated......... yet it makes me wonder who are they fighting?

Those are the guys that usually get their butts handed to them in a bar fight. I witnessed two "rival" MMA gyms in a bar get into it. One decided he wanted to attack me...oops. As he came in on me I just sidestepped, grabbed the back of his shirt and planted his face into the ground, locked his arm behind him and stuck my knee on his back until the bouncer came over and got him. Good thing I know the owner of that bar, and he knew I wasn't in on the fight.

Most of the real MMA guys I know who fight professionally would never start a fight or act tough in a bar, and are very inconspicuous. MMA isn't about beating someone up or acting tough, but about competition in the ring. It's almost a chess match in my eyes. Just watch the UFC guys, they are for the most part very respectable towards each other. I've had some training and know how to handle myself, as have a lot of my friends, but we would never sit around and act like we could kick everyone's ass in the bar. I hate fighting, it's always a last last last resort with me.

To sum it up, watch out for the guys who don't talk big. They are usually the ones you should worry about

That's very true Aaron. I have a good friend who is pretty well known in the MMA world and he came to practice one day telling me he was dead tired. Turns out some drunk guy was banging on his door all night telling him he wanted to fight. He just called the cops, went out and held him until the cops came. He only went out only because he had a kid sleeping in the house. Took the cops forever to get there but he ended up being up for most of the night after that. If he were one of the guys who Ty may have seen at a bar, the drunk guy would have needed help.

Remember, its not the size of the dog in the fight, but more so the size of the fight in the dog!
