I was just stating what the press release said about vetoing a trade.
He is the one that is doing the screwing... the packers were all set to let him come back earlier this year but he backed out right at the last minute before there was to be a press conference so the packers had no choice but to move on. I think he was/is mad about the packers not getting who HE wanted the last couple years and this is his way of trying to get back at them; other wise this would all have been done behind closed doors instead of him going and crying to the media. Why has he not done an interview with someone who will ask him some tough questions instead of a friend?! Because he thinks he is bigger than the team or the game and wants every thing HIS way!!

Anyway you want to slice it he IS an egotistical piece of crap!!!!!!!

As far as him being the best chance to win.... I think he gives them the best chance to lose anymore. He was good once upon a time but anymore he will just throw it up and hope someone makes a play for him. That is how they lost the playoff game last year. He threw into double coverage hoping someone else would make him look good instead of doing the right thing and checking down.
A good quarterback will make lesser receivers look good but you saw what happened to him when he had average receivers..... he showed his true colors and sucked arse!!!

I think both sides are to blame on this.

Who was Ted Thompson's first ever draft pick? I am pretty sure it was Rodgers. You don't think that front office personel don't have egos too?
It's just like any job, management thinks that they are the reason for success and they could have anyone doing the job.

As good as Favre was last year, he was medicore the last couple years, everyone seems to forget about that. Without the emergance of Ryan Grant, the Pack wouldn't have got a whiff of the NFC Championship game.

Ok I will let you have your point of wanting certain players to come in and join the packers, he was kinda a baby about the Randy Moss deal but your comment about giving them the best chance to loose is simply idiotic. For the past 2 seasons he has had a team with 1 year starters on the o-line and rookie wide receivers. In fact, Favre has never had stellar receivers. He made Robert Brooks, Donald Driver and Antonio Freeman into great players, otherwise he's had mediocare receivers his whole career including a past his prime Sterling Sharpe. Sorry Sterling if your reading this but it's true He almost lead them to the playoffs 2 years ago with an 8-8 season and WAS IN THE NFC CHAMPIONSHIP LAST YEAR!!!!! If you watched the game, the team isn't even in a position to win without his 90 yard touchdown pass or his 25 yard touchdown pass but I'm guessing you forget that the game is 60 minutes long and only remember the overtime. And he didn't throw into double coverage, his last pass was an out pattern to the side line -a bullet pass because face it you can't just heave up a ten yard out pattern- most people know that. it was single covered which he under threw and he admitted to making that mistake during the press conference after the game... so you don't even have information right yet you still criticize him.
He does his job and does it well. He beat the eagles, the vikings, bears and your eventual super bowl champion new york giants without a running game in first part of the season but to you I sure he was just heaving up prayers and for 4 games in a row every miraculous pass was answered which is why they won all 4- give me a break. Ryan Grant shows up and he still beats the broncos on monday night football with a picture perfect 75 yard strike to Jennings- a second year player. He makes everybody better including the running game. Look at his stats, last year he had way fewer interceptions than his past 3 seasons and even when he was MVP he still had high interception rates. He is not a good quarterback, he is flat out great again if he can continue on the same pace as last year. You don't make a run at MVP (until Brady ran away with it late in the year) and make the Pro Bowl as a starting qb if you're not doing something right. Stop bashing the guy with inaccurate drabble, it's obvious you don't like favre so lets move on. many people don't like him- thousands more do but at least give the guy the credit he deserves. He is what made me a packer fan years ago when I was a lions fan so believe me I know what it's like to not like him but I at least gave him credit for being great.

I'm guessing you are either a bears or vikings fan, am I right. I'd hate him too if I was. Also if a good quarterback makes lesser receivers good than why is it that joe montana never won a championship without john taylor, dwight smith, roger craig- a great rb who caught tons of passes and oh yeah....JERRY RICE!!! Seems like most people think he was a great qb but when he played for the cheifs I don't remember him winning any championships with mediocare receivers or does your logic only count towards Favre. Just checking.

You need to quit guessing because you are wrong on all parts. My team in fact is the Raiders and yes I know they are gonna be horrible again this year.
You obviously have a man-crush on Favre. When he is viewed with an open mind he is what I have described him to be.
The only time the packers have won a title or made it to the super bowl is when they had decent receivers and a running game. In the other years they were just mediocre. I don't like Elway at all but at least when they did not have much he still got them to the super bowl more than twice unlike the overrated Favre.

A good quarterback will make average receivers look better. A good quarterback with great receivers looks great himself. A great quarterback with great receivers wins multiple championships unlike Favre. A good quarterback(not great/overrated) with some decent receivers, a running game and real good defense will luck into a championship ONCE. That is your beloved Favre.

You just go ahead and keep loving him all the while he is trying to tear your team apart. Or are you just in love with him and do not care at all about the packers?!

Well you're obviously a favre hater and you must have horrible vision because nobody sees what you are describing at least not lately. I will full on agree with you that 3 or 4 years ago he was going down hill and I thought he was done but give him credit he turned it around the past 2 seasons, somehow the guy figured out what was wrong and is playing fantastic football- stats don't lie.

Your elway comparison is also pointless as he played in many more superbowls, denver had the dominant team in the AFC for most of the 80's with a great D, great receivers and quality running backs and elway sucked in every superbowl except his last two which he didn't do much except hand the ball to Terrell Davis and watch him go and yes that was against the packers.

So if I go by your qb theories, basically what you are saying is that the quarterback is useless on any team unless the team is stacked with awesome receivers and runningbacks. Boy, somebody should've told that to Dan Marino a long time ago. In what decade did favre have GREAT receivers? You make a claim that a good qb with great receivers wins many championships- when did this happen for favre? If you look at the stats for Brooks, Freeman, Rison and Desmond Howard they pretty much sucked before favre was quarterback. Do you think they all took miracle pills to make them great receivers all of a sudden and it coincidentally happened when favre became the started...wow... what are the odds. If you don't think the packers had decent receivers and a running game last year than you were obviously watching the XFL- I know "He hate me" is the bomb

Here's your exact quote- "A good quarterback(not great/overrated) with some decent receivers, a running game and real good defense will luck into a championship ONCE. That is your beloved Favre."---hmmm....sounds awfully familar to what Rich Gannon and Jim Plunkett did or did you forget about that

And how about Rich Gannon- there's a winner for ya. Talk about a guy who had many top receivers and just choked- Tim Brown, Porter, Jerry Rice and they still get blown out. The tampa defense scored more points than the Raider offense.

I admitt I am a huge Favre fan, love his emotion on the field, the way he plays and the way he takes fault for almost everything that happens on the field. He doesn't throw his o-line under the buss (Peyton Manning), he doesn't blame the coaches(every Raider when Callahan was there but honestly who could blame them), he not involved in off the field illegal drama (half of the Bengals and Cowboys in years past) so what is not to like about the guy. He's very fun to watch and I'll watch every game he plays, just as I used to try to watch every game gretsky was in, magic johnson and larry bird played in, and just as I watch every playoff game that derek jeter is in-some players just have that something that makes some people want to watch and get caught up in who they are. That why we are called fans. To be honest I love the packers but with everything that's gone on it's hard to. By the way, expect favre to play in green bay, ESPN reports the packers are holding a qb competition this year for the starting job. Apparently that was their big secret. Rogers has no shot.

It's quite apparent on where we both stand and that's why sports talk is so great. We can talk all we want and it makes no difference what so ever. Favre could suck or be great who knows but that's one reason why I'll be watching. Love the discussion, it's kept me from being bored at work all day today.

Boy, sure starting to look like number 4 might be wintering in Minneapolis after all.

Think of it like split custody, you will still get to see him a couple of weekends out of the year

i've been a long time packer fan dating back to the pre-favre era, and i think this just stinks. i love the pack and i love brett. i think the media is to blame for all of the name calling. the story is a bunch of he said/she said and i think its sad that this is the way things are going to end between brett and the pack. both sides should have came together without the media circus and straightened some things out. both sides are to blame. i am just trying to imagine how the season will go for the pack without their main man! this all together sucks!

Brett the Jet.

Good luck to you. I have to admit I am disappointed. I am not a Packers fan, but thought Brett Favre was one of the good guys. Just a regular "Joe" in a football uniform. After watching the last few weeks watching, I finally see his true colors. He was willing to disrupt his former team. Willing to tarnish his legacy. Just to play football again.

It appears to me, at least, that he is believing his own hype.

So good luck Brett. I hope it was worth it to you.

So, does this mean we get to see if the quarterback makes the receivers or if the receivers make the quarterback?

Wow, can't believe the Jets won the bidding war. I thought for sure TB would have went all out to get him and got rid of Garcia and Simms. A. Rodgers had better perform or the whole Packers organization might just fall apart.
