Did Tiger end up winning?? I'm no golfer, never been on a golf course. However,I love to watch those guys putt. Hit the ball the opposite way and watch it curve, gain speed, and fall in...it's pretty cool IMO.

I am not a huge golf fan by any means but over the past year or two I have started watching the final round of every tournament Tiger is in just because you never know what he's going to do. If Tiger is anywhere close I always watch. As weird as it is to say, he makes golf actually exciting and this past weekend he put on one heck of a show. That putt on 18 to send it to a playoff was just rediculous, the man is automatic in clutch time.

Tiger is out for the season for major knee surgery and two fractures. I guess he REALLY had to work through the pain.

How does someone get hurt playing golf(except for getting hit with a ball)?? Especially a knee. Or, did he injure it doing commercials or carrying his money to the bank?

There's an extreme amount of twist and high-speed untwist in the golf swing. Some body parts are moving really fast. Others are stretching. Still others are staying nearly stationary. Most professionals have trouble with knees or backs or hips eventually.

The two stress fractures came as a result of working to strenuously at his rehab after the last knee surgery... he was trying to get ready for the open.

I wasn't aware that it was tradition for an 18 hole playoff at the open. I figured would do sudden death holes untill someone came out on top. Seemed kinda odd to me.

I was informed they only do this 18 hole playoff for the British and U.S. Open. But then again, I don't know much about golf, so I could have been misled.

A good friend of mine once walked backward off a green while trying to line up a putt. He broke his ankle.

When the minister at his funeral (who had never met him) referred to him as "quite an athlete," some of us had our only smile of the day.

Default Playoffs

Someone questioned earlier the number of holes played in playoffs in golf. Of the four majors, the U.S. Open is the only tournament that uses the 18 hole format. The Masters goes to sudden death. The British Open, or as the U.K. refers to it "The Open Championship" has a four hole playoff, the PGA Championship goes 3 holes. As far as the non majors in the USA, the only ones I have seen were sudden death.
