I like the Huskers, but I can't help but to admit it.

Could be ugly for the skers! Hopefully Zach wont get confused as to who he is supposed to throw the ball to this time. Auburn 38 Skers 14 hope its the other way around but the War Eagles are arguably a better team than either Texas or Oklahoma and for sure better than Okie state)....jim

Wow Fishsplash, that would be an odd score fore sure.
I noticed Callahan apologized for his coaching in KC and said changes are in order. Hmmmmm, anyone want to take a stab at this? Wishfully thinking, will he fire his closest friend and hire someone that know a few things about a seconday? |

It almost seemed like Callahan was sobbing on the teleconference yesterday. As far as the secondary goes. The scheme would work if we had Bowman and Fluellen since Bowman is huge compared to Jones and Grixby and Fluellen is a better athelete than the two combined. Jones is all mouth and Grixby is too small and slow. They need to recruit 6'-0" or taller secondaries. If I am not mistaken Grixby is still a Solich recruit correct? That would only make sense, since all that solich recruited were smaller guys for the most part.

Auburn 24, NU 7
However, if Brandon Jackson can rush for 100 yds, Nebraska will win. If not, they will lose by at least 2 touchdowns because A) NU's passing game isn't much unless the D has to respect the run. If the run game is going, Auburn will not have the ball and cannot score. If's it's 3 and out all the time, they will put up big points on NU. B) NU hasn't exhibited the ability to regularly get to the QB and apparently my mom has been playing cornerback. |

Couldn't agree more. Our corners are terrible. Why are teams still playing 5'9" corners? It's not just Nebraska that's doing it either. If the trend is -- and has been for a number of years -- to put guys that are 6'4" at receiver, why is it still odd to see corners that are that tall?
This will be the trend in future years. Corners well over 6' tall on a regular basis. I'm no football genius, but back when our D was outstanding with Darlington we had The Brown brothers playing corner. Granted they were not tall, but that was also a few years before we started seeing the Dwayne Jarrett's of the world, too. Anyway, those Brown brothers were good enough we could put them on islands and let them play man-on-man which allowed us to bring the house at the QB. It was a brilliantly simple and effective way to go, but you need the athletes to do it. Anybody remember holding PEYTON MANNING'S Tennessee Volunteers to 17 points with this system?

Auburn 35 NU 10. If Zach decides to actually throw the ball instead of stand there and look dumb.......Auburn 35 NU17.:d Honestly though,I hope NU wins cause seeing all the NU fans crying about this and that gets old game after game.
However,I'll give NU fans credit, they are the most optimistic fans in the world. Always hoping for a glimmer of hope even when that glimmer keeps getting shut off game after game.....season after season.:zcoffee: :zwicked: Alex

I don't know if they are going to rely on Brandon Jackson. Did you see when they put Lucky in and throw a little bootleg strong side to him in the flats...it was a first down every time. WHY didn't they run that more, and WHY wasn't lucky in before the 4th quarter? One of those things that Callahan has to "work" on I guess.

Zac's not a bad QB at all. However, if the D knows that we are not going to try and run the ball, they just keep bringing more and more guys up in to the box to pass rush until there's 2 or 3 more guys coming on every play than NU can block and he's got no time to throw or for the receivers to run proper routes. How many times lately has he completed a pass backing up and the play barely makes any gain at all? How can you go backward passing? By not establishing the run, that's how.

Well had a birdy tell me that callahan told the team on practice yesterday that it's time to turn the program around and it starts now so seniors don't expect to play as much as you would like to.

Good of him to decide to turn it around on the last game of the season.
I would guess he had a "locker room" talk also and his future might be in jeopardy. A coach can only have the "who cares if we win or lose" attitude for so many seasons before the check writers get fed up.Alex

Its amazing how quickly people forget what Zac has done for this program the last two years. Holy Crap. He had a bad game against one of the quickest and best defenses in college football. You dont think the fact that he was getting nailed on every play had anything to do with his lack of accuracy? Zac's been a great leader and a great team guy from the moment he got here. It just sucks that so many people, on this forum and other places, are being so short sided. Looks like the "Husker Haters", I mean the greatest fans in the country......are Back.
Not sure if B Jax is gonna be playing the ball game or if he will be 100 percent. He broke his hand during the OU game. We've got plenty of RB depth, although it would be nice to have our leading rusher at full strength. Looks like Bouman will be coming back for one more year. Hopefully he will be back to what he was before the injury. Grixby needs to go. We've also got a promisng Juco recruit coming in next season, not to metion Ricky Thenarse. Also didnt Mike Brown play Safety and not Corner? I wasnt too old back then but i thought he played the "Rover" position in NU's defense.

So what has he done for the program?? That's a good point.......He had a bad game. However, most Husker fans don't tolerate that and want people gone if they don't produce every game, especially in key positions. He was getting nailed why........lack of Offensive line, open receivers, couldn't decide who to throw to? Whatever the reason........If there's nobody to throw to....either run or throw it away, not take a loss every time. BTW,I'm no Husker fan,I just call it as I see it. I could care less if they win or lose. Most of NU's problems can be associated with bad coaching and poor attitude from players/coaches. It's the coaches responsibility to adjust during the game and that doesn't happen very often. It's the players job to come to every game with the attitude of winning and give 110%. I see the lack of both of those during most of the games this year. If Zach is such a great team guy, then he should of asked to be taken(as others should have been too) out because of poor playing for the betterment(if that's a word) of the team.
