    Default Huskers vs Hawkeyes

I think the Huskers finish with a tough win at home, Big Red by 9. Better have a couple extra ambulances at the game, beginning to look like a M.A.S.H. unit we're so beat up!

I'll take the Huskers in a tight one, 28-27. If we win this, it would be our most impressive win this year, as we'll join the other teams that beat Iowa (N. Illinois, Michigan St., Ohio St., and Wisconsin) whose combined record is something like 39-3. Iowa lost to Ohio St. by 10. I don't think the Huskers could hang with the Buckeyes that close.

This should be a really good game; perhaps the one to really kick the NU vs IA rivalry into high gear. I've been impressed with the resolve the team has shown the last few weeks between the turnovers & injuries...hopefully Friday there are neither of each!

I think we're in for another close one, but the Huskers come out on top 24-20.

I think the Hawkeyes should win this one. I think they are better on both the dl and ol, and they are way more physical too. The huskers are still a turnover machine without Martinez...and Kellog is a sitting duck in the pocket. I guess the wildcard would be Abdullah...but I just don't see the huskers being able to stop the Iowa run game and the play action to their tight ends that goes with it. Again, I think Iowa should win this one...but I wouldn't be surprised if they poo the bed either.

The Hawkeyes should win, yes, which would make a Nebraska win all the more fun, so we prevail, 24-21.

After the debacle last year, I see the Huskers coming on strong and delaying the "rivalry game" title for another year.

The NU "O" looked good vs MSU until they "lost the handle" multiple times!

Huskers win by 10, go to bowl and lose big to the likes of Texas A&M or Missouri from what the "experts" are saying the match ups will be as of now. Bo stays on and we repeat this whole cycle all over again in year 7. The current 1-6 record against ranked teams the last 2 seasons will continue to cause speculation until this coaching staff turns it around if possible. Maybe they can, maybe they can't but I give them credit for what they've done with such a diminished team late in this season, that squad is banged up and they deserve a lot of credit for the fight they have.

I see the Huskers winning a close physical game back and forth just like all the others lately. Abdullah runs for 140+ cementing a first team All-American spot. RK3 stars and has another shinning moment ala Matt Turman or Mark Mauer, look it up kids, the defense continues its improvement against a big play deficient Squawkeye offense. Blackshirts get 3 oskies, Huskers fumble once inside their own 20, Gregory gets two sacks, the Husker O plays their 3rd string Guard extensively, no heroics needed and win 24-17.
At least I hope so. For those of us who live on the right side but work on the wrong side of the river, another year of wearing Husker gear in Counciltucky and getting the stinkeye stare from Hickeye fan while you smirk and think Scoreboard, is just PRICELESS! GBR!

Speaking of Matt Turman, what a performance his squad put together last night. Class A championship tonight, should be a good one. Two extremely strong running backs on both teams. Hopefully they are both getting a look from one of these in state college football programs.

Well, maybe I've been sippin' on a little of Grandpa's "cough medicine" tonight, but Hawkeyes will definitely win this one. Come on, you guys have been predicting that nu will lose against teams for the last month, and now that you've squeaked by a few nailbiters against mediocre teams(not saying Iowa is anything but mediocre), you honestly think nu can beat Iowa that easily??? I am excited to see how the Hawks do at shutting down Abdullah. Run D has been fairly good for us this year, and considering that he is the only weapon you have offensively(except for go routes with that fat kid heaving the ball up in the air and hoping someone in red comes down with it) I like our chances. Hawks are just too physical for your weak and limping lines on both sides. Iowa 24-10.

    Proud of you, Hawkeye!

Just a couple observations that should have you questioning your pick. (Not that you really aren't doing that, right now! Ha!)

The "fat guy" actually is wearing a FLACK JACKET under his jersey.

MSU thought they had the best run defense in the Conference. Great defense didn't cause ANY of the fumbles, either.

I expect the Huskers to take advantage of their SPEED advantage.

I got an invite (complete with ticket! Ha) to the game, but some of us have to WORK! There IS an advantage to that. After the XX no call by the refs on your bloated O-line holding blatantly in front of him, my TV will be safe from the Husker Nerf Ball!

    Ha!

Well, Harold, I guess we will both be working. I work at the hospital that they bring all of the drunken fans to. My guess is that there will be an overload of "but my parents are expecting me in a few hours". Sorry son, I know you started drinking hard after the first half when nu was down by 12, but you're not gonna make mama's leftover turkey samiches, mashed taters and gravy. You have a few select, speedy players, but without someone to run out in front of them and stop Iowa's MLB stud Morris from planting them in the turf, you're done for. Cheers to you sir for having to work on BLACK(and gold) Friday...
And I got a ticket invite, too, but apparently the darn Black Friday psycho shopping soccer moms asked for the day off 364 days ago...

Likely for the best even though Husker Fans are generally "respectful" to commie pinko... err, I mean "visiting fans" after your team takes a "whoopin'"!

Now, should I be wrrrrrrrrr... on my prediction, I'll accept the beat-down from you. I've already got my "excuse" writ.

Ha, if Kellogg keeps eating his Kellogg's and wears his flak jacket, which he will, I bet by Friday he's closer to 260 than 220, which makes it even better yet when Nebraska wins, lol.

Here's the breakdown, as I see it. Iowa has a slightly superior offensive and defensive line, possibly quarterback, certainly Iowa is improved at quarterback. Nebraska: superior skill positions, linebackers (take that, Hawkeye) and DBs. Special teams: no comment. Coaching: both teams a bit above average. Extraneous factors: Nebraska is coming off a loss at home. Nebraska is depleted by injuries. Iowa is depleted by incarcerations and by being Iowa. Nebraska wins.
