I did consider other fish, and would have preferred others. My short list was YP and bluegills. I ended up with tilapia for a couple of reasons. First was that YP and BG are tough to find in January. Second is that you need a fish that has been raised on pellets or will easily take to them. Third is that I don't know what summer water temps will be but tilapia will likely handle them. It's easier to heat in the winter than cool in the summer. When the tilapia are done, I want to switch to YP if it works out.
