Black Bears in N.E Nebraska!

There is a female black bear with 2 cubs roaming around the Allen/Martinsburg area where my grandpa farms. A bunch of people have been seeing her and the cubs. How would a female black bear make it here with 2 cubs? Where the heck would she come from is my question?!? Especially with 2 cubs...i guess shes been seen by a bunch of different people and theres pictures of her and the cubs in alfalfa fields on facebooks that someone posted! Is this crazy to anyone else? Mountain lions are EVERYWHERE around here now, elks ranges are getting closer to here every year, my cousin was seeing a bull elk by wisner everyday deer hunting last fall, and a coupke years ago a guy we hunt with found a moose skull by newcastle. Whats going on cause this really doesnt seem 'normal' to me, especially for nebraska.

If it is in northeast Nebraska, then she probably wandered in from Minnesota last year before denning up. Black bear sightings are super rare in Nebraska, but they do happen. Most of the time those sightings are from out west and are bears from Colorado or Wyoming.

Animals roam. Bears, lions, moose, elk, wolves, etc. they all do it.

I heard on the news a month or so ago, That Nebraska only has 20 Mountain Lions that reside here.... I would think that it would be a higher number than 20.

With no Papa Bear in the picture, it suggests a late fall (did we have a winter?) migration, and a possible "hibernation" in Nebraska!

Would be "cool" if a "Bears Are Us" group would "tag" Mama and the Cubs for future tracking!

Nebraskan's live with tens of thousands of rattlesnakes and women drivers... why wouldn't we welcome these foreigners who are much less dangerous?

I suspect even BIGGER ROAMERS than Black Bears, the numbers from the "STUDY" are probably fairly accurate.

A good example would be counting the Bears in Allen and when they later show up at Eric's house down the road, reporting SIX BEARS in NE!

Of course, NOW is the time to remind "people" before they take over Nebraska:

I've heard that there have been sightings of bear and even a wolf on reservation land in NE within the last 10 years.

Definitely more mountain lions in the state than just the 20. They are opening up applications for mountain lion permits. That tells you something. I have a buddy who is a sheriff's deputy in Alliance and they have sightings and shootings of them all the time.

That is not quite accurate. The Legislature passed a bill that will enable the NGPC to set a season IF they choose to. The bill just gives them the authority and no season has been set yet. For that to happen regulations will have to be drafted, public hearings held, etc.

FACTS? You tossing in FACTS? You expect "us" to buy an "educated opinion" over undocumented SPECULATION? I know it says on your "tag" Junior Member, but...

"MY COUNT" is 21, making the undocumented SPECULATION viable. Of course, my "sources" may have counted at least one of the Mountain Lions more than once...

I talked to NGPC today about the bears, and they said it's a hoax, there are 3 kids that wore bear skins and made a video, and took pictures to try and make it look like real bears.
