Default Gotta take a STOP class

OK, I know its not about fishing, but you can comment if you want while we wait for the ice to melt. I have to take a STOP class, had a minor accident and they gave me a ticket for negligent driving. Should I take the class in Milford or Lincoln and should I go for the whole day or two evenings. I'm not very good at sitting still for that long, especially if I don't have a fishing pole in my hands.

my wife had to do the two night class, she said it wasnt bad. I would have done the 2 night class last year, but my speed was too high over the limit to even take the class.

Not sure I could take an all day class sitting thru that absolutely boring class, unless they give lots of breaks.

The class sucks if you're an ADDer like me. I opted for one day of torture instead of having to drive into town for two days of torture. Makes the fine and insurance increase seem almost worth it to avoid the class.

It may depend on what county/jurisdiction you were in and you who gave you got the ticket (City Police, County Sheriff, or State Patrol). Way back when I got my last ticket for speeding, I HAD to take the class in Lancaster county, in spite of the fact that Milford would have been closer to home, because I got popped in Lancaster county... 128th up the west side of Pawnee Lake :-(

DEFINITELY take the class if at all possible. You do NOT want to pay the cost of carrying negligent driving on your insurance record for 5 years!

What's a STOP class? Excuse my ignorance on this matter. I gather that is has to due with not having your insurance affected.

A pre-trial diversion for minor traffic offenses. Keeps them off your record (and hidden from insurance companies).

As a former traffic officer I know how much people love to take STOP classes rather than pay the fine, lose points and watch their insurance go up.

I also know that having a good instructor can make or break the effectiveness of the class on modifying behavior.

    Default I have taken both

    So here is the gig.
You do not have to take the class in which the citation was issued but you do have to pay the fee that each county sets forth. For instance I was stopped in Custer County for 9 over and the class that I took was in Lincoln with a cost that was almost double what the fine would have been.
I took the 2 night class and it went real smooth, they did let us out early the 2nd night but not much.

I took one in a full day class some time ago from a citation in Otoe county where I had the class also in Lincoln. That was a VERY, VERY LONG DAY.

And yes I do drive fast even though I am over 50. I have a very nice radar detector and it has saved me thousands of $'s but it does no good when they are flipping.

    Take the 2 night class!!!!!

Take the two night class for sure. Thats what I did and it wasn't bad they let us out early both nights. Losing two weeknights instead of an entire saturday when you could be fishing is the way to go
