    Default Santee Reservation Hunting Info

I plan to bow hunt on the Santee Indian Reservation in October. I've never hunted there before. Any info related to this area would be helpful, type of terrain, are there many deer there? Is any area of the reservation better than others?

Also, I'm having difficulty getting a map of the shaded areas of the reservation available to hunt, If someone would be so kind as to provide me an address to send a self addressed stamped enevelope to and send me a copy of the map I would appreciate it.

I hunted the reservation near Decateur NE two years ago and enjoyed it.

There are plenty deer in that area, just about any part of the Missouri river will hold deer. Download google earth and look at, it will look something like this.

We do a fair amount of waterfowl hunting on the Missouri River and put our boat blind in at the Santee ramp. I don't know what is available to hunt on the main land itself, but we have seen some deer out on the islands and there are some very defined trails out through the islands and sand bars. Definately a good number of deer throughout the area.

I have turkey hunted alot of property that they have available and there is alot of terrain have fun trying to drag out a deer from there. There is some areas you can drive thru though. I have looked for better maps of the area but none existed. The map you get is not all that bad and the area is pretty well marked with little orange signs. Good Luck.
