    Default buffalo or carp

Hi everyone, does anyone know how to tell the difference from a Buffalo and regular carp. Is the meat color different? I seen some pics of Buffs from bowfishing on the fourm and notice the eyes of the Buffs are all black and I've seen Carp and their eyes aren't like that, is that a why to tell?

    Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks in advance.

Get them side by side and they are very different, buffs have a larger mouth, and more of a stocky build.
When you have the option, please buy American made. If it does not save your job, it might save mine.

Default from the one that knows

There are lots of differences; if you have the species side by side, it is fairly obvious. One way you could tell the difference between common carp and the buffalo species is the carp have barbels at the corner of their mouths.

You might want to spend some time here, http://www.ngpc.state.ne.us/fishing/...dentification/ . The interactive identification tool at the bottom of that page includes a key that illustrates the differences between the species. There are high quality colored drawings that show the differences as well.

Did you know the buffalo species are members of the sucker family while the common carp is a member of the minnow family?

Hope that helps. Let me know if there is anything else I can help you with.
