I've plucked several both with and without scalding. I wouldn't pluck one without scalding it any more. It really works a lot better. After you do a few you do get a method down and can do it in a...

My number one goal is to have a good time and enjoy myself and the outdoors. Oh, and catch some fish as well. Looking for some nice cats and bass, but we'll see what else is biting, too.
Looking...
To answer the first question: So that's who that guy was that was running around with an ice auger at full throttle and laughing maniacally.
To answer the second question: There was a chupacabra...
Oh great, more pictures...

I kinda agree... cutbait is cheaper than buying a bunch of jerkbaits and lure scents!
That being said, there are times when crankbaits will bring in kitties, but that is more of a late spring...
Found 8-10 inches of ice near the dock at Powder Creek yesterday... it'll still be a little while before I'm hitting lakes here for ice out anything.
That picture with the gates all the way up is pretty interesting. Wonder when the last time they were in that position was?
Made the trip up there last Saturday since the weather was good. Didn't get there until the afternoon, and from what I found out just after the bite quit. Ended up with one small pike. The river...
I've heard of guys clipping the front-facing hook off their trebles to try to cut down on snags. I've never done it myself, though.
I didn't want to give away my secret location.
Checked powder creek a while ago and found out i need to carry a tape measure when checking ice. About 10 inches es where i checked.
We've had a few warm, windy days up here this week. Hopefully that ice will just plain go away soon!
On Sunday or Monday Powder Creek had a real solid 8 inches. Was going to swing by and check today but didn't get to it. Talked to a fella fishing there and all he was catching was small crappie.
A couple more:

Take my advice for what it's worth, as I do not ice fish but live near Powder Creek and when it is free of ice I often fish it multiple times a week. There are a few crappie in Powder Creek. There...
You knew it was coming... however late it may be!
The river is a bit low.

I have a couple Mosins and enjoy them a lot. The trigger on my 91/30 isn't really terrible. It shoots well enough for how the bore looks (there was too much cosmoline in it to tell in the store. I...
Depends on the spot and time of year, but usually 20-30 minutes is plenty to me.
Heavy dusting up here near Ponca. The wind has been blowing from the NW all day, so I'm not expecting a whole lot.
Used to do a ton of hiking on about any public ground within 45 minutes of Lincoln when I was in school there... If you're hunting for meat, you should be able to fill the freezer with doe meat...
Nothing today. The weather is playing bad with me here, though. Cold, snowy, and windy. Seems to chase the coons away in the dead of winter here, and I didn't get any beavers yet though had at...
Don't have any pictures handy, but 5 coons so far. Set out 8 or 9 snares last Saturday, but whittled them down over the week. Had a double the first night the traps were out, then a couple a couple...
Have a few more now...
