LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Nebraska Game and Parks Board of Commissioners will conduct public hearings and address other issues at their 8 a.m. C.T. meeting at the Curtis Community Center in Curtis on May 29. In an 8:30 a.m. public hearing, the commissioners will consider proposed amendment changes to the period of time a person holding a Sporting Dog Trial authorization may hold birds before obtaining a Captive Wildlife permit. In an 8:45 a.m. public hearing, the commissioners will consider adding language that allows upland game to be kept up to 14 days without a Captive Wildlife permit. In a 9 a.m. public hearing, the commissioners will consider adding boating to allowable uses on public access areas designated by signs. The commissioners will also take action on other issues, including: — a recommendation to approve an agreement resulting in the transfer of 90 acres from the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers to the Commission; — a status report on the Open Fields and Waters Program; — an appearance by Melvin Thornton, who represents the Friends of the Niobrara and the Nebraska Wildlife Federation.
