Default NGPC's November Outdoor Calendar

NGPC news release, 10/23/08:

LINCOLN, Neb. – There are a number of outdoor events and activities on tap across Nebraska this fall. Here are some you and your family may want to attend or participate in during November.

Nebraska 2008 park entry permits are required at all state parks, state historical parks and state recreation areas. For more information about individual events, call the telephone number listed with the event. Information can also be found on the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s Web site at Nebraska Game and Parks Commission Homepage.

Nov. 1 – Ak-Sar-Ben Aquarium near Gretna – Nebraska’s backyard birds, 9 a.m.- noon, songbird banding, information on species history and migration patterns. (402) 332-3901.

Nov. 1 -- Ponca State Park – muzzleloader sight-in day, 10 a.m.-3 p.m., targets include gong targets, contact Ponca SP at (402) 755-2284.

Nov. 1 and 2 – DeSoto November late season antlerless deer season, sunrise- sunset, in a portion of the DeSoto National Wildlife Refuge in Washington County near Blair; special permit required, (402) 471-5432.

Nov. 14 – Elk hunting in Boyd Unit closes 30 minutes after sunset, permit required. (402) 471-5432.

Nov. 14 – Statewide youth archery deer season, season choice archery season, landowner archery deer season, statewide archery deer season, archery antelope seasons all close 30 minutes after sunset, will reopen after November firearm deer season. (402) 471-5432.

Nov. 15 – Statewide youth firearm deer season, deer season in season choice areas, November firearm deer season, landowner firearm deer season all open 30 minutes before sunrise, permit required. (402) 471-5432.

Nov. 23 – Statewide youth firearm deer season, deer season in season choice areas, November firearm deer season, landowner firearm deer season all close 30 minutes after sunset. (402) 471-5432.

Nov. 24 – reopening date for elk hunting in Boyd unit, statewide youth archery deer season, season choice archery season, landowner archery deer season, statewide archery deer season, statewide archery antelope seasons all reopen 30 before sunrise, permit required. (402) 471-5432.

Nov. 29 and 30 -- Boyer Chute November late antlerless deer season, sunrise to sunset, special permit required. (402) 471-5432.
