Missouri River Outdoor Expo Seeks Local Splash Dogs

LINCOLN, Neb. – Now is the chance for your dog to make a splash and show what it can do. Visitors to the Missouri River Outdoor Expo can enter their dogs in the Splash Dogs competition.

The Expo, an annual interactive outdoor celebration for the entire family, is Sept. 20-21 at Ponca State Park. Splash Dogs is a dock-jumping competition for dogs. While the event includes seasoned pro jumping dogs, newcomers are encouraged to compete. There even are divisions for junior dog handlers (ages 6 to 15) and lap dogs.

Registration opens at 9 a.m. on Sept. 20, with practice at 9 a.m. and competition waves 1 through 3 at 11 a.m., 1 p.m., and 4 p.m., respectively. Registration opens at 10 a.m. the following day, with practice at 10, Wave 4 at 11, open finals at 1 p.m., and pro finals at 2 p.m.

The cost is $10 per practice session and $20 per competition wave.
Dock jumping will not be the only entertainment by dogs at the Expo. The Purina Incredible Dog Team, including seven trainers and more than 30 dogs, will show off the athletic skills of the dogs. The team also educates people about responsible pet care, including nutrition.

A park entry permit is required for vehicles entering the park.
