NGPC news release, 6/19/08:
LINCOLN, Neb. There are a number of outdoor events and activities scheduled across Nebraska this spring. Here are some you and your family may want to attend or participate in during July. Nebraska 2008 park entry permits are required at all state parks, state historical parks and state recreation areas. For more information about individual events, call the telephone number listed with the event. Information can also be found on the Nebraska Game and Parks Commissions Web site at Nebraska Game and Parks Commission Homepage. July 4 Lake Maloney SRA boat parade begins 10 a.m., meet at the Frontier Resort. (308) 535-8025. July 4-6 Fort Kearny State Historical Park Stampede Days, 9 a.m.-5 p.m. each day. Army wagon rides at 1 p.m., cannon firing at 2 p.m. Soldiers camp and living history, and Central Nebraska Woodcarvers demonstrate wood carving, knife making, pine needle basket weaving 9 a.m.-5 p.m. Friday and Saturday, 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Sunday. July 19 Ak-Sar-Ben Aquarium Wild World of Pest Management 11 a.m., 30- minute presentation on pest management by Professor Emeritus Larry Schulze, UNL Dept, of Agronomy and Horticulture. Admission to aquarium is $1 for adults, $.50 for children six years and older. July 19-20 Ak-Sar-Ben Aquarium Snakes of Nebraska presentation by Douglas Ferraro, UNL Associate Professor 10 a.m.-5 p.m. Admission to aquarium is $1 for adults, 50 cents for children six years and older.
