Default 125 Citations Issued in “Click It or Ticket” Campaign

NGPC news release, 6/3/08:

LINCOLN, Neb. – A Highway Safety Grant allowed Nebraska Conservation Officers to work overtime during the "Click It or Ticket" enforcement campaign that began Memorial Day weekend and ended June 1. It resulted in the issuance of 125 citations for various vehicle-involved violations, said Duane Arp, Law Enforcement Division district supervisor in the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission’s Lincoln office.

Arp said although weather conditions during the holiday weekend hampered outdoor activity and limited visitations at the lakes, the weather improved and people enjoyed nice weather the following week.

Conservation officers and the Nebraska State Patrol conducted a vehicle safety check during the afternoon hours at Branched Oak Lake. A total of 101 warning tickets were issued for various vehicle defects, operation violations and registration requirements. Another 24 citations were issued for offenses such as driving under suspension, no operators license, expired registrations, child restraints and no insurance. The officers also cited several individuals for violations such as having no fishing permits, alcohol-related regulations and vehicles being in unauthorized areas.

“During the grant time period conservation officers worked in and around the Salt Valley Lakes within Lancaster County,” Arp said. “The additional coverage was nice to have during this busy time of the year. We want people to enjoy the many recreational opportunities offered at the lakes and it’s our job to make their outings as safe and enjoyable as possible.”
