Default 4 More Controlled Burns Planned

NGPC news release, 3/28/08:

LINCOLN, Neb. -- The Nebraska Game and Parks Commission will conduct prescribed burns on three wildlife management areas (WMA) in the southwest part of the state and another in the south-central when conditions are favorable by May 15.

The areas where burns are scheduled are:

Frontier County –– Medicine Creek WMA, Red Willow WMA.

Furnas County –– Cambridge Diversion Dam WMA.

Phelps County – Sacramento-Wilcox WMA

Controlled burning is used to enhance vegetation for wildlife nesting, loafing, and brood rearing cover. It also helps reduce woody invasion into the habitat.
