LINCOLN, Neb. – There are a number of outdoor events and activities on tap across Nebraska. Here are some you and your family may want to attend or participate in during March.

Many boating safety courses are scheduled. The Nebraska Boating Safety Course is required for boat operators under the age of 18. You must be 14 years of age to operate a motorboat in Nebraska.

March 11 – Aquatic Habitat Information Meeting, 7 p.m., Red Willow County Fairgrounds, 4-H Meeting Room, W. 5th and O St., McCook; no fee. A draft of the new Aquatic Habitat Plan is available for public viewing and comment.

March 15 – Reptiles and Amphibians, 1-3 p.m., Ak-Sar-Ben Aquarium, 21502 W. Nebraska Hwy. 31, Gretna; $1 fee. Greg Hartel will be showing the live animals on display. Get an up-close look at the turtles, frogs and snakes that live at the aquarium and learn about their lives in the wild. This event is part of the Lincoln Safari. Call (402) 332-3901.
