Default Take the Challenge at Nebraska Outdoors Expo 2008

NGPC news release, 3/3/08:

LINCOLN, Neb. – Nebraskans are invited to see if they are up to the challenge – the Cabela’s Outdoor Challenge – Saturday, April 19 at Nebraska Outdoors Expo 2008 in Kearney.

The Expo, in its second year and sponsored by the Nebraska Game and Parks Commission and Cabela’s, is a celebration of the state’s rich outdoor heritage. The focus of the family-friendly event, to take place at the FirsTier Event Center and adjacent Kea Lake, is a wide variety of hands-on recreational and educational activities.

The Cabela’s Outdoor Challenge is an opportunity for the entire family to compete in select interactive skilled activities for the chance at grand prizes and the title of Outdoor Challenge Champion. A male adult, female adult and youth champion will be crowned and receive a prize from Cabela’s.

Up to eight activities will be used for the Cabela’s Outdoor Challenge, which is free to enter. Participants will track their progress on scorecards and the winner will be determined at the end of the day. The activities may cover a broad spectrum of outdoor interests, from shooting to archery to kayaking.

Nebraska Outdoors Expo is in its second year. A full day of activities are scheduled for the event, which is free to the public and runs from 8 a.m.-6 p.m. Areas of activity include: archery, boating, canoeing and kayaking, cooking, camping and parks, dog training, fishing, fish and wildlife management, hiking, hunting, law enforcement, natural world encounters, shooting, and trapping.

Seminars, workshops, demonstrations and hands-on activities all are part of the fun for the whole family.
