I know that I need rain to keep my pond full, but is anyone else frustrated by the amount of rain(and run off) we've had this June? I was having unbelievable fishing (some days) in the used pond I bought this spring, until the Saturday before Memorial day when we got 4.40" in ninety minutes. Ever since we've had rain about every other day. The pond has turned brown and fishing has gone straight hades. I can't blame the fish, they probably can't see the lures.
Just had to vent. |

I fished a Lincoln area lake the other day and it was like mud. The bass were beyond slow. Just be glad it's muddy water instead of mud puddle.

I second this, but for different reasons. We're building a 2/3 acre pond and haven't been able to dig till just recently because of all the rain. Would have liked to have a hole already dug for all that water to go into.

Just wondering if there is any chance of creating a buffer zone of terrestrial vegetation surrounding the pond to filter the runoff.

There is a decent amount of CRP ground and pasture in the watershed and for the most part water clarity is pretty decent for a south east Nebraska pond. However, a torrential rain like four plus inches in 90 minutes is going to wash a lot of dirt.
