Here is a picture of a male BG sitting on a nest yesterday afternoon at my favorite farm pond. I think he was watching me take this picture.

Two great pictures, guys!
![]() How long are they hanging out by the nests before they start to spawn. It seems like they've been there several weeks...

The males were actively guarding their nests at my favorite little pond this weekend -- fun to watch them chase off rivals. The girls seemed to be hanging out a little further from shore in somewhat deeper water.

The males have been on and off the nests several times in the last few weeks, they would move up and fan some beds, a cold front would come in, then the males would back off for a few days. I finally did see one male and female swapping slime in a nest yesterday afternoon.

Watched a ton of fish on beds - including some bass still - yesterday on a pond in Iowa.

Thanks Daryl! Cuckholders and sneeks!
![]() With all of this rain the BG have really pulled off the spawning beds at favorite farm pond. They males have been very absent for the last 10 days or so, and yes there is still a little visibilty left as of this morning. ![]()
