Default "Fair" bluegill

This fish was brought up during an electrofishing excursion by a friend of mine. Note the copper band across the forehead. Hence the name "coppernose" bluegill.

Either that guy's got tiny hands or that's one hell of a bluegill! Any "profile" photos?

Fair? I think that fish looks kind of ugly like that.

Nice gill! Did you catch it?

Here's the traditional view.

I wish I caught it, but it's an electrofishing beauty that a buddy of mine shocked up. Evidently there's others quite a bit better.

If not, then that bad boy has been eating small fish instead of aquatic insects, that's one impressive bluegill.

Yes, this fish got big on high protein steelhead chow. He was probably pretty effective at natural foraging as well.

You don't see many genuine 11-inchers. Aren't they somethin'! The last one I saw was Frosch's monster last summer, which could have been mine except Frosch always takes the best spot!

That fish has the body condition to easily make two pounds, but it probably needs just a little more length. It wasn't officially weighed, but it is reasonable to peg it around 1 3/4.

THAT is a hog gill! I can't even imagine something quite that nice in something other than pictures.

Funny you are still showing off the same fish.....is that the foam version or the more expensive cast model? It's holding up pretty good.
