IF they got cleaned. They are non-native in New Zealand, would be like shooting feral hogs or pigeons here. Who cares if they dumped them in a pit to rot, they are a problem exotic species that needs to be taken out there.

Glad everyone doesn't have that same attitude of dumping the birds instead of cleaning them.

I had some clients last year snow goose hunting that wanted to do that and were serious. They signed over 53 geese to my name and I cleaned every one of them.

Roman's makes the best goose sticks around.

Yeah but that guy I know eats a bunch of geese. He said he is mad at New Zealand because they kill bunches at a time and just leave them lay

Alex,

All I am saying is, its quite possible they got dumped. I don't promote dumping "harvested" birds, but when it comes to exotics and non-native species often you are only "hunting" to kill. When extermination of a species in a certain area is the goal, actually utilizing them is often a secondary activity.

You could argue your not hunting them you are just killing them to get rid of them. Nothing wrong with that as sometimes it needs to be done. Not sure exactly what the situation is in New Zealand, but when you can legally shoot 203 Canadas, I am assuming the government wants them gone. Even if that means dumping birds.

I actually heard the other day that the take on Canada geese in some areas in that part of the world is completely unregulated.

They apparently go out at night in boats and bash them with ball bats on the roost.

If starlings were big enough and roosted on the water, we'd do the same here.

Duelly noted. Thats why they are afforded no protection in North America.

It's hard to believe with no limit and no season, that there are any canadas left after a few months.
