Ive went on a couple guided hunts before but never for snow geese and have been thinking of getting out.
Tell me how you hunt these differently than canadians.

Jimmy snow geese are a total different ball game. Spreads of 1000 decoys are not uncommon.
There are literally HUNDREDS of guides around. Most use layout blinds in the mud. There are a few that have some nice pit setups as well. Time is coming. I say last weekend of the month some birds will be on the ground.

Don't let Alex fool you. He KNOWS Snows.
Yes, you really need A LOT of decoys and other gear to do it well and have a chance at being consistent, but don't let that stop you. First time I ever decoyed snows, Bo and I did it on a tiny budget. - 50 rags - 2 lawn chairs - 2 burlap camo tarps - 1 old boom box - 1 cd of snow geese sounds recorded from the internet for free - 2 12ga shotguns - 1 box of 3 1/2 bbs - 1 snow goose flag We set up within a 1/2 mile of a couple hundred thousand snows and waited for dawn. When dawn came, I asked Bo if I should wave the flag. He said "sure." It was game on from there. I don't think we killed more than 6 that day, and I'm sure everything we brought close enough to pull the trigger on were jouvies, but the point is, don't be intimidated to get started and don't let guys tell you that you have no business being out there. Someone told me that once. ![]()

Taste twice as good as any Canada I have ever shot...
People just like to say they taste bad so they have an excuse to give them away or dump them. Good Hunting, PATRICK OLSON |

I love to hunt snows but I don't like to eat them. Because I don't like to eat them, I don't hunt them that often. Only when others I'm hunting with like to and will eat them do I usually go..
