Default Late Season Regs clarification

Okay, as I read them, if I have all of the proper tags for 2007 (habitat stamp and all that) and I have a Seasons Choice tag, I can hunt the late season (Jan 1-15, 2008) without buying anything else.

Is this correct or do I need to get the 2008 stamp for that hunt?

Thanks,

Habitat stamps are valid only for that calendar year, so as I understand it you would need a 2008 habitat stamp.

I think you can hunt the entire SC season, even in to 2008, with your 2007 habitat stamp.

This is the only license or season this is true for, I believe.

I can't believe how the season choice permits sell out like they do. I got on a couple weeks ago to get one and the majority of them in my area were full. Which is good I guess. I"ll just have to keep that in mind next year.

Steve is correct. From page 9 of the Big Game Hunting Guide:

"...those hunting deer on Season Choice Permits during the January 2008 late season may hunt with a 2007 Habitat Stamp"

South of 41 is correct too.

Habitat Stamp
All residents 16 years of age and older and all
nonresidents regardless of age must have a 2007
Habitat Stamp to hunt during the archery,
muzzleloader, or November firearm and January late
season. Only one Habitat Stamp is necessary for all
hunting in any calendar year. A 2007 Habitat Stamp
is valid for the January 2008 late season.

I just saw this and it makes about as much sense as the state waterfowl stamp only valid until 12/31, Genius!

Scotty;

It was after reading that paragraph that I decided I needed to appeal to the greater wisdom of the group here.

Now, who needs me to kill a doe or two on their land this Jan. to improve the buck population?

If they would open up SCA 3 again I am still seeing plenty of deer. Herd there may have been cases of blue tongue around the Loup though...
