Default 20ga. shell question..............

I thought( ) that all 20ga. shells had to be yellow by law. Got some shells for Brandon for dove hunting that were green. No big deal,I just thought it was a federal thing to help prevent loading 20ga. into a 12 ga. by accident.

I don't think it's any kind of federal law mandating the yellow color of 20 ga shells. It's surely a good idea, but I don't think they have to be yellow.

16 ga. shells annoy me. They come in all colors. I wish they'd make them all purple.

It would be nice if they made 28 gauge shells all one color too, black would be good. Red for 12 gauge.

Then the only drag is if you reload, keeping track of what is what. I used to use a fingernail polish on the primers in a color coded system to tell me what was in the shells I had reloaded.

just seems weird that out of all the boxes of 20 ga.(from different makers) that I have bought for him over the last 6 years, these are the only ones that weren't yellow.BTW,even some the same brand name shells have been yellow.

you are right, 20 ga shells are usually yellow. But I don't think it's the law.

I would be surprised if I opened a box and they weren't yellow.

MadDog always tells me that 20 ga shells should be PINK!!
