Default Bass Pro

I had occassion to be in Omaha and thought I would visit the Bass Pro Store as I had not had the oportunity to do so before. I needed a few small items and I intended to get them there. As I toured the store I observed the shooting gallery on the second floor and immediately decided not to buy anything there! We have enough problems with idiots shooting things that should not be with out a place like Bass Pro putting targets on a tractor, farm buildings and livestock. Do not expect me to buy anything from Bass Pro in the future.

Then I guess you're not going to buy anything from Cabelas either. The one in Omaha has a shooting game like that. If people are dumb enough to confuse reality with a game then they shouldn't have a gun to begin with. IMO it isn't worth boycotting any place because they condone good natured shooting games.

I kinda come down with these guys on this one.

The problem with any kind of vandalism is values and judegment, or lack thereof.

If people are that ignorant and can confuse an airgun range inside a retail store (or state fair, video game,TV show or website) with any kind of reality, then we probably soon will have bigger problems with that individual's conduct in society than him plinkling a stop sign or two.

I can't see where such a shooting game is promoting anything of the kind.

On the other hand, I don't patronized such activities, particularly where my child is concerned as my own judgement is that guns are too serious to be played with, ever.

I think Steve touched on a much greater issue and that is education. Proper safety education of rules and regulations as well as arms is going to win out here.

Reading this post brought back my memories of growing up on a farm. I remember (without fail) that every year right after the state fair (that had a shooting gallery like this) -- there would always be someone going by our farm and shooting up our signs....Like they forgot that they were not at the fair anymore.....Some people just are not very sharp.

The shooting ranges at Cabelas and BPS are a blast, in my opinion...but I'm a 30 year old guy who is going on 18. I would think these are fun ranges that kids can have fun at. Trust me, there are video games out that are way more violent, that use pervasive graphic violence an issue, not that I'm coming down on video games, cause I have a ton of em, my point is, I think the shooting ranges are there for entertainment and fun, not to mimic real life.

GA,
How can you be assured that it was because they attended the fair with "that" type of game?? Maybe it was more that some hunting seasons finally opened and people were out with guns.If it were the game's fault,we'd be in ALOT of trouble with the games that are now out on Xbox,PS2,etc.

It always seemed that the fair would "spark the interest" of a certain group of seasonal plunkers (we knew who most of the culprits were...small towns and all) to grab their 22's from the closet and have a little target practice Not that they were not doing equally destructive things for the rest of the year.....It's just that the shooting gallery at the fair almost always seemed to awaken their "plunking" instincts for a week or 2....and then they would move on to something else.
