If I have a problem with it, it might be the color. Since it is black it tends to stick out like a sore thumb when attacted at a tree on a trail. I try to point my camera lengthwise down the trail so it has more time to capture a deer in the picture. Of course this mean when the deer are going towards the camera they can see this big black thing strapped to a tree in front of them. I had always thought painting the trail cams camo was more for us then the deer. But after seeing mine on a tree I changed my mind. I may have to take the camera out of the shell, and do some camo painting of my own. Of course that would be after some of the newness wears off.

Is that one of the moultrie digitals, or is it a film one?

Yes its 99 bucks
and digital. As far as standing out, I dont think it matters. I stuck the block out there that afternoon and she walked right past it like it wasnt there. So i dont think hanging a cam on a tree is going to matter to them and mine was being held on with blue bungie cords. ![]() |

I thought I'd pass this along for anyone who is interested. A friend of mine makes these boxes. I use them on my cameras just to prevent damage and at the least, deter theft. If someone really really wants the camera I'm sure nothing is fool proof. I thought this might be useful to some of you with trail cams. I bought mine unfinished and painted the box camo with spray paint, added a lock and cable. So far so good. |

Maybe you guys can help me out. I know my monitor is a little dark. I've brightened it up as much as I can and still some pictures seem way to dark. Many times I've had to lighten up my trail cam pics to see them properly.
Here's the same picture. The first is left normal and the second is after I lightened it up a bit. For me the second picture looks better. How about the rest of you. Is the second one too bright? ![]() ![]() By the way, these pictures didn't come from my Moultrie. They came from my Wildview.

The first one looks best to me, but the second is still pretty good.

The deer looks about the same in both of them....The green looks washed out in the 2nd pic. (The colors in the first one are actually pretty good.)

Ditto....When I posted above I was looking at the first picture on my 20" flatscreen at work...and the colors in the first picture looked perfect (the greens were really vibrant). Now I am at home on one of my beat up old laptops the first picture looks a tad dark....Sometimes you just can't tell until you get prints made.

for a $99 trail cam it looks great. I personally would be happy with the way it turned out originally. Both pics look good to me.

Actually the two pictures of the same doe aren't from the $99 Moultrie. That picture was taken with the $50 Wildview.
I've always liked the pictures I get with the Wildview, but that camera is too slow for a trail. You need something to stop the deer if you want them in the picture. The Moultrie is faster, though I also have some empty pictures there too.

Both pics look fine to me. I just picked up my first camera yesterday. Got the wildview at menards for $59. Hope it works ok, seems a little slow in the liveing room though.

That's the Wildview I've used for quite a while. I like the pictures, but like you said it is slow. If you put some corn or a mineral block in front of it you should be fine. I will say the flash won't be good too far out, so put the block close to the camera.
