I asked someone at G&P why we didn't have program like Iowa's ($1 charge on deer licenses, drop off gutted deer at participating lockers, they grind, then give to food banks, end of story) and CWD was the answer. Although in the most recent Nebraskaland they mention starting a program in 2008. Probably have to figure out how to get around the legals.
I would love to shoot more does but my family will only eat so much deer in a years time. But I'd happily pay for the tags if I had an outlet for the meat. Especially if there are bonus tags involved, nothing like two for one! |

There are some of the check stations that keep a list of people that would like to have a deer given to them. I have donated deer to some of these people in the past. I field dress it, check it in,fill in a card that says I am giving them the meat. I also deliver it to them. It's up to them to take care of the butchering. The ones that I've donated deer to were very pleased to recieve the gift. mc

Id like to donate some as well. This year I can shoot 4 deer. Last year I shot 3 and at this moment its almost all gone. I make about 1/2 hotdogs and sausage and the rest goes to burger that we use in just about everything. Saves you tons of money and nobody can tell the difference in what it is. Also eat the loins on the grill.
Love shooting those does and wouldnt mind shooting a couple more.
