No trees, need to put up a ladder stand..

Was on a different forum and there is a guy with a ladder stand who doesn't have trees big enough for it. He wants to put in a telephone pole (utility pole) to put his ladder stand against. Okay, my question is, wouldn't that be a hell of a lot of work? And wouldn't you have to dig a fairly deep whole?

They make a ladder stand that looks like a step ladder or 2 ladders put together to make a X and yiou sit on the top pat of the X I can't remimber the name of the company but it is out there. Try a tri-pod they work really good and you can put a box around them toi keep the wind off you.

Eveybody sees the Buckmaster guy do it and thinks it's a save-the-day thing. I would think cost would outweigh the effectiveness.Buy a tripod type stand(or build one yourself),then you have a stand that has the ability to be moved if needed(once the little trees grow up).

I'm not thinking about doing anything like that. Was just something I read and thought that would have to cost a bundle, if not in money but time. More than likely both. I'd just get rid of the dang ladder stand and buy a ground blind. Even if I lose money it can't compare to trying to put a utility line pole in the ground. Oh, and it was a North Dakota forum so I'm assuming the trees might not ever get big enough to put a ladder stand on. (I'm surprised the guy found a tree

) I wouldn't do it, just was curious what you all thought this guy was as crazy as I thought he was for thinking about doing something like that.

One thing I don't have to worry about where I hunt is finding a tree.

Putting the arrow where it needs to go is my biggest worry.

The thing about North Dakota.......find a tree and the deer hunting is extremely easy. It's amazing to see a fence row with trees,and every one of them rubbed raw from bucks.
