Default Three bearded Tom?

I have a question for you turkey hunters......

Anybody ever seen or heard of a turkey with multiple beards? I shot one Saturday morning that has 3 beards! The longest being 8-9 inches, 2nd one was 5-6 inches, and the third was 3-4 inches. I've never heard or seen such a thing before but maybe it's not that rare?

I've shot a bearded hen before (which I don't believe is that uncommon) and even seen wild albino turkeys but this is new to me.......

I have pics...... I'll try to get them up soon! Just curious if anyone has ever seen or heard of this before?

Well..... these pics aren't that good and I didn't even realize it had 3 beards until I started plucking it but here you go...

I had three Toms come right to my decoy about 15 yds away. I'm so glad picked this one!!

Default Three Bearded Turkey

CONGRATULATIONS!!! These are very unique trophies. Similar to a non-typical deer. They are uncommon, but not rare. I shot a three bearded tom three years ago. They measured 10 1/2, 8 1/2 and 5 1/2. It's hanging with the tail on a plaque in my den. Makes a beautiful trophy. What did your tom weigh? How long were his spurs? When will you be serving? I'll bring the stuffing!!!

Not that uncommon, when i used to turkey hunt I have gotton a few that had more than one beard, The most I'll call five, had a 9 3/4, 7, 5 1/4, 4, and the last one just had 4 hairs coming out about 2". since they were seperate from the other one I'll give it the benefit of the dought and call it a beard.

Thanks mulie...... unfortunately, I didn't weigh him, or measure the spurs, but I did eat part of him tonight! Mmmmmmmmmmmmmm.... could have used that stuffing you mentioned though!

Never seen one like that without feathers though. That is rare.

Dont know how common it is but I know of 2 guys that shot multiple bearded birds this spring. One was shot this last weekend. Had 7 beards, birds score will put it #2 in the State and #3 for Merriams.

I think the world record turkey had like 8 birds.

Havent seen one personally until this year. So far this spring, I have seen three. Two were killed together on some ground I hunt by a father and son. One had 2, the other had 3. I killed one with 5 just up the road from there.

Out of the 3, none of the birds had spurs bigger than 3/4".

Seems like more birds with multiple beards this year than in years past. Have they been hanging out with Barry Bonds or what?
