Default Help Needed for Disabled Hunter

Got this in an e-mail today and thought I'd get the word out here:

Hello Everyone
The SANDS program is all about helping people with disabilities to meet up with able bodied men and women so they can participate in outdoor activities like hunting and fishing. When you signed up for SANDS, you said to the world that you care enough about people to lend a helping hand. You joined the ranks of people who know what the true meaning of hunting is. It isn't about the kill it's about being outdoors and a part of nature and helping others to know what that feeling is all about. Don wanted to come to Nebraska to hunt for a mature 4 year old whitetail buck. Don lives in California and won the hunt from Safari Club International. He paid for the state wide rifle, bought his plane ticket, got a motel and rented a car to get around in. All he needs is someone willing to take him with them when they go out on a deer hunt. If you could help Don by getting him out and on some private property where he might have a chance at making his dream come
true. Please contact me at 650-0211
Thank You
Dave

I am not trying to be crude by any means, but after reading this I can't figure out what "Don" won exactly. He bought his tag, plane ticket, motel room and rented a car. And now someone needs to volunteer to take him hunting.

From what I have heard about Safari Club and the handicap hunts that they raffle off, when you "win" the hunt everything is set up for you, including a person to take you hunting and a place to hunt. My Grandfather has actually done this in partnership with the Safari Club in the past, he hosted the hunt on his private property but that was set up prior to the raffle.

I had received this in an email and wondered who had donated this. The hunts I have donated to SCI were 50% donations so I got back half of the purchase price was but a lot are 100% donations. It would be interesting to know who backed out or what the real details are. Obviously I'm not that worried about it since I'm putting this on a forum instead of just emailing the guys.

An update and clarification I just received: The guy did win a hunt and went on it. He passed up two bucks and is still in the state looking to fill his tag.
