My scope and barrel will arrive today and I need some assistance with some math. The ballistics on the Hornady SST's are as follows;
muzzle -1.5, 50yds 2.4, 100yds 2.7, 150yds 0, 200yds -6.7. If I sight in for 150yds, would th first break over of zero be somewhere around 19 yards? My exact number was 19.2yds, but i figure if i sight in at 19 it will get me close enough at 150 to dial it in. Does this sound right? Any help is appreciated! Aaron TA2D

i'd still sight in at 150, if that's where you want your zero to be. the ballistics "on the box" are merely a guideline -- your gun may pattern them differently. i actually have my 870 with Hastings CSD barrel zeroed at 100, and i'm still only 6" low at 200 with the same slugs you've got. good luck!

What I've always done, especially at a short range, is to shoot at 1" high at 25 yds. And with popular calibers holding dead on should hit a pie plate out to almost 225 yds. Just remember moving the cross hairs vertically is a factor of four.
