I heard awhile back (I cant remember if it was on here or not) that if you have a pair of Cabela's brand waders and they get a leak in them, you can take them back and get an exchange pair. Again, they have to be Cabelas brand, not just bought at Cabelas. Is there any truth to that? I bought a pair last year around Christmas and they are already dry rotting in the crotch and have a small leak. I also have about two or three other pairs I was just gonna throw out because they have leaks just from common things such as stepping on a beaver sharpened willow, etc. I am very hard on waders, I go through about a pair a season.
Also, does this mean if buy one pair of Cabelas brand waders, you'l never have to buy another pair. If you think about, anytime you get a leak which is the only thing that ruins them, you just take em back for a new pair. This seems to good to be true and why I am asking for clarification.... |

Cabelas is trying to pro-rate returns now depending on how long you have had the product. Sometimes I've gone along with this idea on things that I bought on sale and their pro-rated price was more than what I actually paid for it. Other times I argue with them about the item I'm returning and have yet to not get my 100% money back(I just get it in gift cards) or exchange. Having a receipt really helps nowadays. BTW,they don't like to hear that you'll keep your stuff and start buying from Scheel's or Bass Pro because of their pro-rating returns.

Cabela's footwear including waders has a lifetime warranty... I would think the dry rot would be covered under that warranty... Tears, rips, etc are not covered... Does not hurt to take them in and ask.. If you have a reciept or put it on a visa or mc credit or debit card they can lookup the purchase date...

The lifetime guarantee on Cabela's Brand stuff has not, and hopefully never will, change, but they recently made some changes to their previously extremely generous return policy on other things purchased there. They are now offering and 'aftermarket' warranty on some things, its like a protection plan you'd by for an appliance or T.V., you pay extra after the sale, and you have some benefits should anything happen.

Awesome... thanks guys for the info. Looks like I will be returning the dry rotted pair here shortly and maybe trying the others another day. Aint nothing worse than sittin in damp pants/socks when its cold out, well besides not seeing any ducks...
![]() Oh yah, might as well throw a report out there. My buddy and his dad shot both their limits on the Platte today. Said there was quite a few ducks mingling around for a 60 degree day, the south breeze must of helped. Is it Saturday yet? |

I was the one who originally posted the question about returning waders on a different forum. The brand I was referring to was Scheels, who IMO has a way better return policy than Cabelas. The original post was about returning my waders that had been sitting in my attic for 2 years un-used and they had a leak in the neoprene. After many opinions of that being a cheap-o way out I ended up buying a new pair which I happened to puncture a hole in on a sharp submerged stick my second time out during LPL. I took them back and explained what happened to the customer service rep at Scheels and she said "No problem go grab what you need and bring it on up here." Unfortunately they didn't have the 400g thinsulate series left so they let me upgrade to the 800's for an extra 40 bucks. Sweet deal to me....Brand new pair better quality waders for 40 bucks you can't beat that IMO. Cabelas will no longer be getting any of my waterfowl business either due to their new "pro-rating" policy. The salesperson that helped me with finding my waders even thanked me for my business when he knew I was just there to exchange my waders......Above and Beyond IMO. Thanks Scheels for standing behind your products 100%.

I have a pair of Danner Pronghorns purchased a couple years ago. Have serious dry-rot on the top and coming apart where the sole attaches to the shoe. Would any of you recommed trying to get a pro-rated return on these or forget about it?? Cant remember exactly what I paid, and I know I dont have a receipt anymore?? thx

In your case, since they are Danner and not Cabelas brand, I doubt they'll takem back without a reciept. But heck, what are you out for trying? You never know... |

I took back my Columbia widgeon parka to Cabelas that I purchased there and they would give me $80 towards a new one. They are $599 new.
I tried to take back my Browning Barracuda bow that was 3 months old and they would give me $70 towards a new one. They are $250 new. Tried to take back my Cabelas Ultimate waders and was told I can have $80 towards a new pair. $275 new. The boot liner was coming apart. Im done with Cabelas. Their customer service seriously went from being on top of the industry to the bottom if you ask me. Bought a FA blind at Scheels. I broke a piece in it with my fat arse getting out of my blind and putting my weight on it. I decided to bring it in to see what they said and they told me "Yea, go upstairs and grab one and bring it back down." I had no reciept or anything. Just my good word. I was in and out in 15 minutes no questions asked with a brand new blind. My danner Pronghorns leaked water (my new pair does too) and I stopped in with them. I had just got done hunting and took them off in the parking lot. Went in with no box or reciept and same deal. Gave me $179.99 credit towards any boot I wanted. My new pair leaks now too. Im stopping in and getting something different. Scheels all the way for me on big purchases. Id love to give money to Cabelas since the corporation is Nebraska based but when money is tight I need someone standing behind their product.
