Default City of Lincoln decides not to prosecute

Just got off the phone with my buddy from Lincoln who had his guns confiscated. He had court today and they decided not to prosecute him. They dropped the unlawful possession of firearms ticket. The DA is out of town until Monday. He has to talk to the DA when he gets back to find out about when he can get his guns back.

Thanks for the update.

Sounds like there might be some common sense down at the DA's office after all.

I am keeping my fingers crossed that there will NOT be any issues that prevent him from getting his guns back.

I'm very glad for him.. That is awesome..

I wouldn't want to see anyone have to pay for lawyer fees/court costs on something like that.

However I would like to see something like this go to court just so it could be overturned and a 'precident set' for everyone else.

It would be 100 times better if they would just re-write their crappy law/regulations!

Yes...I'm happy for your friend, but I was thinking the same thing about something like this going to court and having the city regs re-written. Although if something like this were to go to a higher court i.e. the Supreme Court that would make me very nervous w/ some of the people now sitting on the court...who knows what kind of ruling they could come up with, they scare me! (they scare me in the fact that they might just be liberal enough to tamper w/ our second amendment rights).

That's great but how much did he shell out for a lawyer? Hopefully they dropped it before he had to pay for one!

His lawyer is a personal friend of his from an outstanding firm outta Lincoln. I don't think it cost him anything but the frustration of borrowing a gun every weekend and the annoyance of explaining the situation to his neighbors.
