I will start posting pics of my english pointers when I get my litter of pups on the ground. But if anyone is going to be in the market for one now is the time to get in line.

Are your dogs the extremely long ranging type of english pointer or do they range a little closer? Can you have them in the house with you or is that a no no! These are just some of the things I have wondered about with regard to that breed. Any info would be appreciated.

My dogs maximum range is probably around 40 yards. So I would say that range is very close for an English pointer. The way that you raise your dog is up to you inside or out. I have had mine in the house for awhile before and she did just fine. The only thing that really really affects a pointer is letting them run loose on a farm (this allows them to freely chase birds which is bad) This I found out after having my father take my male for some of the summer. About a month before bird season I locked him up small with no visual of birds. (basically reseting his brain) In the end his is fine. He went back to pointing immediately. If your interested I live in Tecumseh, NE anytime your around I'd be glad to show you how they hunt and of course their bloodlines. Shoot me a PM if you have other questions...

Thanks bowmaster I might take you up on that. I have had shorthairs all my life but I am dogless now, we will see what the boss has to say.

Well we went back out to the same spot we were at for opening day and didn't see squat out there this time. Found permission on a huge chunk of land that we seen quite a few pheasant on last saturday. Our shooting was sub par to say the least and we ended up with two grouse and a rooster. Missed plenty other roosters though. Here's a few pics from the day. Hope you enjoy!
We missed this one!

It seems the first few weeks of the season I am more focused on shooting birds with #5 shot than the dog with digital shot.

Hunted for 15 minutes in the draw down the hill from my house, saw 3 roosters and 1 hen. Only got a shot at 2 of the birds.

73 pheasants and 57 quail........... yea my dog is about dead right now. She needs some days of rest. They released 35 birds the night before this hunt and I seen a lot of these fly in right at sunrise. Yes its a controlled shooting area and the guys have big money but I got to have my dog retrieve them all. Good times for sure.

Very mean picture of me once again. Scared out a massive bedded down buck while working the last draw of the day. Ask Fish_hedd about the size, I can't put numbers to it. Just huge!

Saw 7, shot at 5, hit 4, took home 3....last one hopped like hell out of the way and I will not shoot at the ground where a dog is near....and it was my pup's first time out, did a great job.

After a slow opener things are picking up in the NE part of the state. Lots of crops coming out. I took last weekend off to hunt deer but I'll be back after the birds soon.
