Born to Hunt, by Nebraska's own Ralph Kohler. Ralph is a famed waterfowl guide from the Tekamah area. This book chronicles his life as a young boy right through adulthood. He led a truly amazing life. Great book for any waterfowl hunter to read!

If you want waterfowl books, Bill Buckley has some good ones. "Misery Loves Company", "A Waterfowlers World", and "Generation DUX" are some great ones. Also any of "The Complete Hunter" series is worth a look.

The Purification Ceremony by Mark T Sullivan. Start reading this one right before rifle season, or on an afternoon hunt. The woods will never be the same.

A River Runs Throught It is an amazing book and much better than the movie. The movie was great.

"Precision Bowhunting" is a great book. I also like "Whitetail Straegies The Ultimate Guide" by Peter Fiduccia. I am currently reading "Whitetail Advantage Understanding Deer Behavior for Hunting Success" which has good info also. I have read a couple more but can't think of them right now.

My philosophy on that is if it works on pressured whitetails wouldn't it be that much better on deer that aren't pressured? I'm sure precision is a great read as well! Any knowledge that one can obtain is a valued assett. I believe John Eberhart has a web site called "Deer John" as well I'm not sure on that though.

I have read the Whitetail Advantage by Samuel and Zaiglin as well. It's a very informative book, and it makes it clear that it's not really a how-to book, just offers information that you can decide how to use. It's a lot of scientific data, so some stuff kinda conflicts with what old-time hunters and people think.

Right On! Whitetail Strategies by Peter Fiduccia has actually helped me kill more deer than any other book. I've read it at least 20 times, I probably need a new copy. I love McManus stories too. Good stuff.

I have to add the third plug for "Born to Hunt" by Ralph Kohler. If you enjoy waterfowl hunting it is a must read and if you just enjoy hunting or even just enjoy being in the outdoors it is a great book as well.

My dad got me a copy for my birthday a few years ago and I have read and re-read it at least 5 or 6 times so far. The book does an outstanding job of allowing you to see nature through someone's eyes who you can tell has nothing but respect and admiration for it. Much more than just a hunting book in my opinion.

"The Adventures of Fred Bear" - it's all his field notes from various hunts. Really interesting.

"Poacher's Caught: Adventures of a Northwoods Game Warden" is a fun read.

I read the Purification Ceromony too, years ago when it first came out. I don't remember exactly how it goes, but I do remember it being a little scarry.

Bill Heavey, from F&S, is a really funny writer. His book is called
"If you didn't bring the beef jerkey, what did I just Eat??" It is a bunch of different compilations of hunts he has been on and life experiences, some happy, some sad.

I never wanted to go to africa until I read "Hunter" by Hunter (ironically, that is his last name). A book of stories from years ago, about killing hundreds of lions, elephants, leopards, cape buff., alligators, and the dangers of uncivilized africa.

The last one I read was a bunch of short stories called "When Man is Pray" and talks about bear, wolf, lion, mt lion, deer, ect attacks on people. Another great read.
